White and Red Oak

Probably the most common of all furniture woods in America, oak trees grow in abundance all over our country, and up into Canada. Large oaks easily mature to over thirty inches in diameter and heights of 40 feet or more is common. (FYI: The largest oak tree in Texas wears a trunk measuring 32 feet in circumfrence!) Oak has a very open pored surface which gives a very nice texture to the project. We we recently harvested a few LARGE oak trees resulting from a storm in our area and the wood just finished cookin’ in the kiln.
